What exactly do you do at COViS and since when?

I am currently head of IT at COViS and this means leading the IT operation and DB administration teams. The teams are made up of all system administrators with different focal points such as network, server or databases. I have been in this position since March 2019. However, I have been with the company for over 13 years. As head of the IT department, I am responsible for operating the entire IT infrastructure.

Why did you choose COViS?

I've been part of the COViS family since 2007. At that time we were about 35 employees and I started here as a system administrator. This position was the first after my apprenticeship as an IT specialist. Above all, I had the opportunity to get to know every area of IT and to develop myself individually in each area.

Do you have a tip for a smooth application process?

Be friendly, open and well prepared.

What does a normal working day look like for you?

Most working days are very organized and structured. I am either in various coordination or status rounds on projects or we are discussing topics from day-to-day business. But unplanned things, such as application failures, also have to be processed.

What kind of projects are you working on right now?

There are various internal projects, such as the replacement of IT infrastructure components, the introduction of new ITIL practices or other optimization topics. We worked on our internal the Microsoft Cloud project and here we have to consider and coordinate many different requirements. In the respective COViS customer projects, I am primarily the contact person when it comes to the corresponding IT infrastructures that we offer to customers or on which the COViS applications run.

How did your colleagues welcome you?

I have held various positions at COViS since 2007. In every position and in every area of responsibility that was worked on together with different employees, there was always a very pleasant cooperation and collegiality.

What should an applicant bring to work at COViS?

Above all, the will and the desire to gain new knowledge in new areas and expand them. Further training is very important to us, but requires commitment on both sides to optimally use the knowledge gained in projects and customer relationships.

Do you have opportunities for further education?

Yes, in any case. Especially when we want to introduce new topics such as Kubernetes, all colleagues are trained. But my own suggestions, which I can contribute, are also taken into account in the further training.

What framework conditions are created so that the employees feel comfortable?

Above all, the freedom to be able to organize your working hours flexibly and to use your home office. Appropriate equipment is also provided for this purpose. In the office there are free drinks, cereals, a job bike offer and delicious extra presents at the summer party or the Christmas party. Technically, in almost every position you have the opportunity to get involved and devote yourself to topics in which you already have know-how but also want to expand it.

What are your visions for your professional future at COViS?

There are many ideas for designing and expanding the digital workplace, but also for optimizing the existing IT infrastructure. With new strategic orientations and new fields, it is important in the future to position COViS more broadly and to strengthen the existing know-how. I would like to bring all my experience to bear here and thus promote my personal development.
